About

If you’re dealing with doubts, grief, anxiety, depression, disappointment or loneliness, talking with another person can help you find truth, direction and healing. Everybody needs help at some point in their lives.

Pain is like water. It runs down where the floor is uneven and finds the lowest spot. The longer it sits there unattended, the more damage it does to the floor. And if left completely to its own, the water will find a crack or a crevice in the floor and move again to the next lowest spot that it can find. The initial problem was that the sink in the bathroom was leaking, but suddenly the basement walls are rotting out.

In the same way, traumatic things happen to people, but when we don’t face the problem, that doesn’t mean it goes away. It goes somewhere. Jesus was someone who was willing to face pain and trust that, on the other side, God offers us something better.

Therein lies the goal of the Counseling Center at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Park. Through a unique approach called “The Exchanged Life”, the Counseling Center helps a person understand that it is Christ living His life through them, rather than us trying to make life work through our own efforts and resources – the better way of living that God offers to us; all that needs to be done is for us to “exchange” our life with His.
